Boulder Therapist: Individual, Family, Addiction & Experiential Therapy Services

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Individual Therapy in the Boulder Area

For individual therapy, I will work with you one-on-one through regular, recurring sessions either online or in person in my Boulder area office. In these sessions, we will collaborate to help you process and understand what’s happening in your life. We’ll also work together to establish and achieve your short and long term goals. I have found bi-weekly 2 hour sessions to be most effective with experiential modalities - they allow us to go deeper. That said, we can customize your program as needed, with shorter or longer sessions.

Individual Intensive

In an individual intensive we will use experiential therapy to take an in-depth approach to your healing work. We will work together to design a custom program specialized to your needs. Our aim is to cultivate a degree of healing, hope, and change that is not possible through the traditional channel of hourly talk therapy. Generally, individual intensives take place over multiple days for roughly six hours a day, in a retreat style setting.

Family Therapy for Addiction in Boulder

Addiction is a state of family “dis-ease,” and if you have a loved one in treatment or early recovery, the family system will be thrown into a state of recalibration. After many years working in substance abuse treatment, I’ve learned that family systems work is the most effective accelerant to sobriety and change.

My practice specializes in family and addiction therapy in Boulder and I am well-versed in walking with families through the process of substance abuse treatment. From providing referrals for treatment facilities to helping with boundary setting and treatment aftercare goals and plans, I guide families in working through the trauma that is addiction.

Everything will be ok when they get sober” and “they’re in treatment: our work is over” are two common myths I hear from families dealing with addiction. They are a recipe for continual heartache and anxiety, as they create a mindset that feeds and strengthens the addiction.

I am a licensed therapist in Boulder who will work with you and your family on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to grieve and heal the patterns that created and perpetuated the addiction. In this process, I’ll support you in establishing clear boundaries and learning how to engage in a new kind of relationship with yourself, family members, and your addicted loved ones, regardless of the status of their sobriety.

Group Therapy

Group work is a powerful tool in the therapeutic process. It creates a safe container where we can surface, work through, and heal the relational dynamics that hurt us, and forge a new way of relating that builds trust and connection.

As a Licensed Addiction Counselor and therapist in Boulder, I lead various types of groups for substance abuse treatment and recovery, using approaches from 12-step facilitation, psychodrama, and other modalities.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I facilitate therapeutic groups for healing trauma employing psychodrama and other types of experiential therapy.

The groups I lead are 5-10 people and meet biweekly for two and half hours in the evening. The groups are experientially oriented and work on clearing away obstacles that are impeding connection with ourselves and others.
